Ranging from high school students to university students, to people in the workforce, this group was brought together by their passion to sing.  Many of the members are performing with local theatre companies and  bands and some have achieved success in various competitions - such as Jerrica Santos who won the Canadian Karaoke competition this summer and will represent Canada in the World Karaoke competition in Ireland this fall.

Ranj Singh & The Descriminators

"If world famous Indian ghazal singer Jagjit Singh were to share a hookah with Neil Young, the result would be Indo-Folk Music." In the mid 80's, Ranj started his career performing with many folk-Punjabi and Hindi artists in the Vancouver area. In the 90's he helped form — along with his talented brothers — the group “Dal Dil Vog” (a.k.a. DDV). This group went on to win numerous awards and performed with artists such as Jan Arden, 54-40, Mathew Good, and also performed live on Much Music. DDV's style of bhangara/rock music led to tours throughout North America, and India, as well as 3 videos on MuchMusic, and one on MTV Asia. Lately Ranj has been working hard to combine his vast experience in Indian music and his unique “up stroke” guitar melodies with the talents of some other great musicians. He has put together a new, diverse, and entertaining 5-piece band, and they go by the name of "Ranj Singh and The Discriminators". Members are Chris Dufault on lead guitar, Dan Huget on electric violin, Bojan Bugarinovich on Sitar and Bass, and David Eadie on percussion. They perform a style of music they call Indo-Folk Rock. In June 2011 Ranj Singh and The Discriminators will be releasing and promoting their first band album "Found A Way Home”. This is a follow up to the debut solo album “Simple Man” released in 2007.
