Story Ideas
The World Kindness Concert is in its seventh year with a vast
amount of history and wonderful stories that make this a unique
experience. The following are some story ideas:
- Brock Tully, volunteer Executive Producer of the World
Kindness Concert and co-founder of KindActs, is an inspirational
speaker, author, and a well-known figure in Vancouver's Westend.
He once cycled over 18,000 kilometres around North America to
raise awareness for kindness and for decades, has generated
international headlines for his provocative lectures and public
statements. Brock also runs numerous community events including
'Clam Chowder for the Soul' & 'Porridge for the Soul', as well
as 'Music on the Beach' where local film, poetry and music touch
the heart. Brock is truly an inspirational leader, as he connects
and networks like-minded individuals interested in creating
positive change in their communities and workplaces.
- The concert is a fundraiser for KindActs' Invest in a Kinder
World 'Coin-spiracy' program. The concept was designed to
encourage young people in schools and youth groups to carry out
acts of kindness that will echo around the globe. To date, the
Coin-spiracy program has reached over 45 countries. A kindness
coin called a UNI is launched and then tracked. The Coinholder
must commit to 3 acts of kindness - one for self, one for the
environment and one for another. The coin is passed to the
recipient who in turn starts the whole process over again.
- The 'Coin-spiracy' has over 207 UNI Coins invested in kind action resulting in an estimated 282,383 hours spent in community service and over $270,143 raised for
communities in need. Youth around the world have hosted
multicultural events, developed healthy lifestyle habits, planted
trees and scattered seeds, volunteered at local animal shelters,
hosted fundraisers for charities and participated in "The Afghan
Project", sending thousands of books and supplies to the people of
Afghanistan.
